The H.U.G.S. II Community Service Scholarship ($500.00) in memory of Marianne Musto
H.U.G.S. (Help Us Get Safe), is a multifaceted non-profit organization that educates communities about domestic violence while assisting victims and their families. Our chapter in Easton, H.U.G.S. II, emphasizes community activities that promote safety awareness. Our programs include the annual Walk for Family Safety, funding the after school program at Easton Middle School, and co-sponsoring educational programs at the schools about bullying, adolescent relationships and dating violence.
This scholarship is dedicated to Marianne Musto, a beloved member of H.U.G.S. II who passed away in August 2006. Marianne epitomized volunteerism. She was a long time Red Cross volunteer and donated countless hours of service to H.U.G.S. II, including serving on our executive board. Her social worker background assisted her in helping victims of domestic violence. Through the naming of this scholarship in her memory, we hope to honor Marianne’s commitment to community service for years to come.
This scholarship will be awarded to a member of the graduating class of the current year who is a resident of Easton, will be attending college in September, has had an academic performance of a B or better average, demonstrates sound character and has an extensive background of community service. Applicants are encouraged to describe their community service in detail (such as frequency and duration). ( Letter* )
