March
On March 22, 2009 a donation of $14,190 was presented to HUGS by the Men’s Group of the Covenant Congregational Church from the proceeds of its fundraiser held at the Thorny Lea Golf Club in February.

May
Winners of the 2009 HUGS-Marianne Musto Community Service Scholarships were Erin McPharlin and Margaret Silver. They each received a check for $500 in May to help with their college expenses.

October 17th
Our 11th Annual Walk for Family Safety was held on October 17, 2009. It was a rewarding success, raising over $22,000! The turnout was the largest so far of all our walks, due in large part to the increased number of participants from both the Middle School and Oliver Ames High. Thanks to all those who helped make this event such a success during these economically difficult times!

Top three teams:

1st - Easton Middle School National Jr. Honor Society $3,200

2nd - Easton Learning Adventures Preschool $2,323

3rd - Oliver Ames National Honor Society $1,700

Top three individuals:

1st - Betsy Hocking (Harriet Goldstein Award) $900

2nd - Karen McSherry $630
