February 9th
‘The Flavors of the World’ fundraiser was presented by the Men’s Group of the Covenant Congregational Church. This was to benefit both HUGS II and Womansplace Crisis Center. HUGS received approximately $15,000 from the proceeds of this fabulous event.
April 5th
We celebrated our 10-year anniversary with two successful and enjoyable celebrations. The first was a daytime event held at the Richardson/Olmstead school cafeteria. It was a family-friendly fun time open to the public. It offered games, a DJ, birthday cake and goody bags for the children. The nighttime function was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall and was an invitation only affair to past and current sponsors as well as other invited guests. Both events were designed to show our appreciation to the community for all the support we have received during our 10 years of existence.
April 30th
Our President Denise Papagno was honored at the Easton Lions Club Recognition Night. She received this year’s Humanitarian Award for her outstanding commitment and service to our community. The event was held at the Chateau Restaurant in Norton.
May
The winners of our HUGS- Marianne Musto Community Service Scholarship are both graduates of Oliver Ames High School. Ian Edlund and Ryan Murray received $500 each. This year there was an additional $250 donated by Maureen Shannon-Wanders in memory of her late husband Robert Wanders. This was awarded to Kristen Taylor.

The HUGS membership presented a beautiful, quilted wall hanging to Denise Papagno in honor of her 10 years of leadership as our President. This special, commemorative award was hand made by fellow HUGS member, Anne McCann.
