October 15th

HUGS II and the Easton Family Violence Task Force
held our 7th annual Walk for Family Safety

Despite the flooding rains which forced us to hold the event indoors, attendance was still impressive and we all walked symbolic laps around the corridors of the Jr High.

Most impressive was the fact that we raised over $20,000!
Thanks to all who attended and to all who donated money or raffle prizes

Top three teams:

1st-- The McSherry Family $1110
2nd-- Mens Group of the Covenant Congregational Church $1000
3rd-- Peer Assistant Leaders at EJHS $905

Top three individuals:

1st-- Harriet Goldstein $1288
2nd-- Karen Hetzel  $650
3rd-- Betsy Hocking $645

June

HUGS II held our first annual golf tournament at the River Bend Country Club in West Bridgewater this past June. The sixty-one golfers in attendance had a great time playing, eating, and winning prizes.
(They can't wait to return next year!)

After expenses, we raised $2225.00. The Club offered to let us run a modified tournament next year with a maximum of 72 golfers, so we will let you know as soon as we set the exact date.
As always, thanks for your support!

May

On May 8th, twenty-five gift bags filled with personal care items and a 'You are special' notecard were distributed to the women at Womansplace Shelter and Brockton Family and Communty Resources to help them celebrate Mother's Day.

April

A check was presented to Officer Denise Papagno by the Men's Group of the Covenant Congregational Church for $10,040 for the February 12th fundraiser at Thorny Lea.

Some of the funds will be made available as grants to the schools for anti-bullying programs and some will be used to fund other anti-violence programs such as those related to teen dating.

February

The "Flavors of the World" fundraiser at the Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, presented by the Men's Group of the Covenant Congregational Church, was a tremendous success.

Approximately $20,000 was raised to benefit both HUGSII and Womansplace Crisis Center in Brockton.

The food and wine were donated by local establishments and there were many quality items donated for the silent auction.
Two bands provided the entertainment and a great time was had by all. Thanks to everyone involved for a wonderful evening!

* Donations~2005 *

This past year we awarded two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors from Oliver Ames High School who demonstrated strong moral character and evidence of an ongoing commitment to volunteer service.
The award recipients were Meghan Connolly and Jennifer Berglund.

19th--Denise Papagno presented a check for $7000 to the Easton Rec. Dept. for the EJHS after school program.
This brought the total to $10,000 that HUGS gave to the ERD in 2005.
