Twenty-five gift bags filled with personal care items were made up by HUGS member Pam Berglund and her daughters for distribution to local victims in honor of Mothers Day. Also the Easton Jr High Student Council raised money for twenty five additional gift baskets filled with specialty food items, botanical skin care products, and an item of jewelry! Thanks to all of them for helping to make these women feel remembered and honored on this special day. Recipients were from Womansplace Shelter, Brockton Family and Community Resources, Mainspring House, and local victims in Easton.
Two winners of the 2007 HUGS-Marianne Musto Community Service Scholarship were Rachael Jones and Michael Shannon-Wanders. Both deserving Oliver Ames High School graduates received a check for $500 towards their college expenses on May 25th during the High School Awards Night.
The Clothesline Project has had a busy spring. On April 10th it traveled to WPI in Worcester, then on April 24th it was displayed at Brockton City Hall for Womansplaces' "Flowers for Victims" ceremony. Later that week on April 28th it could be seen at Brockton Family and Community Resources "Walk for Victim's Safety". Also on May 16th it traveled to Randolph High School where close to 1,000 students, as well as faculty members and the Superintendent of schools, had the opportunity to view it and experience its impact.
